Wild Life sanctuary

B R Hills Sanctuary

Wildlife sighting at the sanctuary is consistent all year round. The deciduous, evergreen and grassland vegetation here offers refuge to a variety of wildlife, commonly sighted animals are gaur, spotted deer, wild boar and elephants. It is the ideal habitat to spot leopards and sloth bears. There is also a chance of spotting the majestic tiger. The sanctury is a home to more than 270 species of birds, including the scarlet minivet velvet-fronted nuthatch, gold- fronted chloropsis, lorikeet, malabar parakeet, heart-spotted woodpecker and malabar whistling thrush, making it a bird watcher's paradise.

Flora and Fauna

The vegetation ranges from dry scrub jungle to evergreen forests and high-altitude shoal grassland habitat.

Mammals

Elephant, tiger, leopard, wild dog, jungle cat, sloth bear, civet, mongoose, Malabar giant squirrel, porcupine, common langur, bonnet macaque, wild pig, gaur, sambar, spotted deer, and the four-horned antelope.

Birds

Malabar whistling thrush, yello-throated bulbul, paradise flycatcher, racquet tailed drongo, and the cresred hawk eagle. There is also an amazing variety of exotic butterflies. Safari in Kyathadevaraya Gudi (K. Gudi) - 85 KMS from The Green Carpet Resort Safaris in open-top jeep into the Biligiri Rangana wildlife sanctury- accompaniend by well-trained naturalist- are the best way to view wildlife here. The naturalist will interpret the sight and sounds of the forest to the guests.

Season

Anytime is a good time to visit the Kyathdevaraya Gudi WIlderness Camp. Situated at an altitude of 1800 ft. to 6000 ft., the sanctuary benefits from a pleasant climate across the year. Wildlife sightings are excellent, regardless of the season and therefore the Camp is open through the year.

MM Hills is a famous pilgrim centre; the Male Mahadeshwara temple is surrounded by 7 hills.This is popular with hill climbers, trekkers and those looking for a weekend getaway from Bangalore or Mysore.

Biligiri Ranganatha Swamy Hills(BR Hills) - 72 KMS from The Green Carpet Resort BR Hills is considered as a Wildlife Sanctuary; it is a vast hill area with valleys and the Biligiri Rangaswami temple is situated here. On a hilltop in the northwestern part of the K.Guid sanctury, is the temple of Rangaswamy(Lord Vishnu), which has been a pilgrimage canter for over 500 years.

This is a popular spot with a stunning view.

Wild elephants can be seen moving about freely during the months of May and June.

Talakadu is a desert-like town on the left bank of the Kaveri river at a spot where the river makes a sharp bend. It is 45 km from Mysore and 133 km from Bangalore in Karnataka, India. A historic site, Talakadu once had over 30 temples that today are buried in sand. Now it is a scenic and spiritual pilgrimage centre.[1] Here the eastward flowing Kaveri river changes course and seems magnificently vast as here the sand on its banks spreads over a wide area.

Shivanasamudra : 51 KMS from The Green Carpet Resort

The Shivanasamudra falls, literally meaning Shiva's Sea are situated at a distance of 85 kms from Mysore and 139 kms from Bangalore. The island town of Shivanasamudra divides the river Cauvery into two different falls which display a captivating sight. On the one side, it forms the Gaganachukki falls shaped like a large horsetail and on the other side are the Bharachukki Falls. The sight of these two falls is enchanting and the best time to visit them is during the monsoon. The falls are considered to be one among the 100 best waterfalls in the world.

The Gaganachukki waterfalls are best viewed from the Shivanasamudra watch tower. There is another approach to the Gaganachukki falls from the Darga Hazrath Mardane Gaib. Bharachukki falls are situated at distance of approximately one km from the Dargah. These falls are best during the monsoons, nevertheless their beauty mesmerizes tourists throughout the year.

Mudukuthore: 62 KMS from The Green Carpet Resort

Mudukuthore is a pilgrim centre situated on the banks of the river Kaveri. Mudukuthore is a quiet village with a backdrop of a hillock called Somagiri.[1] Mudukuthore is located at a distance of 48 km from Mysore, 25 km from Somnathapur, 18 km from T.Narsipur and is close to Talakad. The place is known for the temple of Lord Mallikarjuna. The place gets its name Mudukuthore from the river cauvery as it gets a turn and flows forward.

Dargah of Peer Hazarath Sayyaduna Hazarath Murdana Gayib – 50 KMS from The Green Carpet Resor

Dargah of Peer Hazarath Sayyaduna Hazarath Murdana Gayib is situated in a small village to the left of the island of Shivanasamudra. The dargah is very old and is located near the edge of a hillock with a deep rocky valley in the backdrop. It is also close to an old mosque which is regarded as an important pilgrimage site by the Muslims.

Gundal dam

Gundal Dam is constructed between two hills near Biligirirangana beta and one more adjacent hill, a picnic spot.
 

Wild Life

The Safaris in the Nagarhole National Park - 15 KMS from Cobra Creek Ranch

For wild life explorers, there are innumerable options to move around the park. Jeeps can be rented to take a drive through the park. Bus safari is also available. If you ask, the best way then jeeps are the obvious answer.

Tholpetty Wayanad Sanctuary - 0.5 KMS from Wild Life Resort

Tholpetty Wayanad is a Wildlife Sanctuary situated at thirteen kilometer distance from Thirunelly. Tholpetty Wayanad is on the road to Kodagu located in Karnataka. Wayanad wild life sanctuary Tholpetty is located at one end of Muthunga. The Sanctuary at the lower end of Muthunga and Tholpetty Sanctuary comprise Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary.

Children will enjoy visiting this sanctuary and seeing different kinds of wildlife and avifaunal species. The elephant population of the sanctuary is close to 900. Other kinds of animals that can be seen in the sanctuary are spotted deer, boar, langurs, and bisons. Tourist guide who will guide you through the sanctuary is found at the entrance.of this sanctuary. A two hour safari by jeep is arranged by the forest department into the park. The timings allotted for tourists to explore this sanctuary is between 7 to 9 AM in morning and 3 to 5 PM in the evening. It is mandatory that a guide should accompany you.

Wayanad wild life sanctuary Tholpetty is a brilliant trekking spot where you can explore a lot. The types of deers seen here are red deer and spotted deer. You can also view wild boar, peacocks and peahens. During their courting season, male peacock exhibits its brightly colored tail fully wide open. You can also spot Indian Bison and monkeys. Some rare kind of snakes can also been seen in Wayanad wild life sanctuary Tholpetty located near Mananthavady.

Major Attractions: Asian Elephants and Gaurs. The best season to visit: November to May, when animals from the neighboring Bandipur, Nagarhole and Mudamalai frequent this sanctuary due to scarcity of water elsewhere.

Vaishali Restaurant
Vaishali Restaurant is one of the multi-cuisine restaurants on Bangalore-Mysore highway. In fact, Vaishali is catering traditional Andhra style food to its customers. Vaishali is a drive-in restaurant located in Mallur Hobli, Channapatna Taluk, Ramanagara District on Bangalore-Mysore highway.

Vaishali entertains vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian gourmets. It opens from 7 am to 11 pm. The ambience of the restaurant is very cozy. It provides a very good parking space and the area is fully lit with floodlights. Must Try: Nati Koli (Desi Murg), Leg soup and Neer Dosa.

Mc Donald : The world famous fast food chain is around 10kms after Maddur, driving towards Bangalore. Comes on right side. Got the usual menu. Who has appetite for western fast food, its heaven. It has everything, to make it a perfect highway stop. Facilities: Huge parking area, petrol pump and neat toilets.

Shivalli Restaurant : Shivalli Restaurant is located on the 67th KM between channapatna and maddur, exactly between Bangalore and Mysore.

Baburaykoppal – Jai Bhuvaneshwari Military Hotel The staple in this area are giant ball of cooked ragi. The Mutton chops and chicken are served separately from the gravy which is very spicy. Flavoured with cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves the meat is a blend of sweet and spicy, cooked to just the right level of tenderness.

JB Hotel has a small eating room and serves only Non-vegetarian food, but if you order vegetarian food, you will be served vegetarian Thali from a hotel across the road.
