DescriptionThis is a station on the railway track known as "green route" from Sakalesh Pura to the Subramanya Road station This railway station is a unique beautiful spot in the whole railway track because of the dense green forest in which it is situated. This stretch of the track with length about 52+kms has around 50+ tunnels and bridges with length varying from few meters to 0.5km and height varying from few meters to few hundred meters. Not to forget numerous streams en route.
This is one of the most picturesque spot (route) in the Western Ghats of the South Kanara . You can either start from the Sakalesh Pura or Subramanya Road Station.
Located in the virgin part of the Western Ghats, which is often referred to as "trekkers paradise", the trek has unprecedented surprises lined up for you.
Running along the Sakleshpura to Kukke Subramanaya Railway Route, the trek is situated in the hub of dense green forests. But, be prepared to stride it out and later, camp it out, for a couple of days.
Also known as the Sakleshpura trek, the trek runs along the 147 km long meter gauge railway line from Sakleshpur to Mangalore.
The trail starts from Donigal stations and ends at Yedakumeri station, which is 20 km away. Along the way, the trail takes you through interesting caves, forests, caves full of bats and other interesting experiences that will stay with you for the rest of your life.
You even get to cross a shallow river along the trail across a bed of slippery rocks, which adds to the adventure.
You can start your trek from Donigal station. The other option you could explore is to mark Sakleshpur as your start point which is about 8 kilometers before the Donigal Railway Station or mark Yethanalla as your start point which is about 5 kilometers before the Donigal Railway Station.
The moment you begin, you’re set to see fabulous waterfalls, walk your way through multiple bridges and explore plenty of tunnels which run along the railway line.

Description : This trail requires lots more skill to get up to the top. This trail takes you to the top of Murkan Gudda. Enjoy the panoramic view of Western Ghats. Get a picture of yourself with the mountain ranges and tea estate behind you.

Getting there : Sakleshpur
Sakleshpur is located on the National Highway 48 which connects Mangalore to Bangalore and hence easily accessible from both the cities. Mangalore is the nearest airport at a distance of 130 km while Bangalore is located at a distance of 225 km. Regular KSRTC bus services are available from both the cities and taking a cab is also an option.
Detailed Directions from Bangalore
- Take the Tumkur Road from Bangalore.
- At the junction before Nelmangala take a left turn into the road which goes to Hassan & Mangalore. This is NH 48.
- You will cross Kunigal, Channarayapatna, Hassan etc. Before reaching Hassan City take the Ring Road and Join the Mangalore highway.
- After reaching Sakleshpur, travel 2 kms from the New Bus Stand, on the highway towards Mangalore and take a right turn at Anemahal to get into the town of Hanbal which is 18 kms from Sakleshpur.
- From Hanbal Keep travelling straight for another 2 kms where you will see the signboard of Wild wagtail. Take left at this junction towards Agani Village.
- From Agani Village, keep travelling straight for 1.2 kms until you reach a signboard directing you to take a right turn into Wild wagtail Adventure Camp
