Description

Hattikulli is a homestay situated amidst the coffee plantation which is more than 100 years old. The estate is around 100 Acres and the Homestay is surrounded by Coffee Plantation, Forest, Mountains, lake and a small Stream. Hattikulli is at a distance of about 95 kilometers from Chikmagalur City and near the Bhadra Tiger Reserve.

So, whatever may be the season come and enjoy the stay at Homestay which is away from the madding crowd and listen to the nature.

Hattikulli is situated between Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary(Agumbe) and Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary(Muthodi) and around 250 species of birds and animals are our neighbors of the wild kind. It is therefore a regular occurrence to be greeted by peacocks, Flying Cat, sambhar, Slender Loris, Bison, giant Malabar squirrel, Draco(Flying Lizard), grey jungle fowl, parakeets, Kingfisher, Bee-eaters and wood peckers, great Indian Hornbills,

If the time’s right, a lucky few can spot the Black Panther and leopard right within the property!

Seasonally(July – November) one can spot Grey Imperial Pigeon.

Trek to Kundadri - 40 KMS from HattiKulli Homestay

Surrounded by dense evergreen forests, Kundadri is a lovely place for trekking. This hill is a gigantic monolithic rock. One can reach the hill top by good asphalted road and also trek from base to the top of the hill. The walk up the hill using the shortcut route is a great experience .If you drive to the hill, after the parking lot, one need to use the stone-paved path that leads to the top. Atop this hill, is a `Jain Basthi’ (Jain settlement) which is said to be of 17th century and next to which are three ponds. Kundadri is named after a Jain Monk Kundakundacharya.

Kundadri, surrounded by lush green provides a picturesque scene of both sun rise and sun set. On a sunny day, you will find the horizon glittering, Guess what the glitter: The Arabian sea at Udupi! One can also camp near Basthi and camping in the open at this hill top on a full moon night is an exhilarating experience. On a full moon night one can experience sun rise and moon set at the same time.From the hill top you can see the twists and turns of the Thirthahalli-Agumbe road.

Agumbe - 43 KMS from HattiKulli Homestay
Agumbe is one of the most scenic places on the Western Ghats of the Southern India. Added to the lush green view all around, the attractions for the visitors is the spectacular sunset and vast opportunities it offers to the trekkers.

If you are looking for a peaceful break for a few days from the hectic city life, away from the crowded and commercialized attractions, then this is the place for you. Agumbe is among the places that receive high rainfall and is rightly called the Cherrapunji of South India. Sunset Point : Sunset View Point rests on one of the highest peaks of the Western Ghats on the Udupi-Agumbe Road. It is ten minutes’ walk from Agumbe. On a fine evening, the sunset can be seen over the Arabian Sea.

Barkana Falls : Barkana Falls, Northeast of Agumbe, is 850 ft/259 mts in height. It is the tenth highest falls in India. It is a fall in the Seeta River which powers a hydroelectric system. The viewing point for the Barkana Falls is about 4 km from the end of the approaching vehicle track.

Onake Abbi Falls : Onake Abbi Falls at 400 feet, is smaller than Barkana Falls. In the Kannada language, "onake" means 'pounding stick', an instrument used by villagers to pound grains to flour. Trekking for 5 km through rainforest is needed in order to reach a view of the falls.

Koodlu Theertha Falls : Koodlu Theerthra waterfall is located 20 km from Agumbe.

Sringeri, is a hill town and taluk headquarters located in Chikkamagaluru district in the Indian state of Karnataka, is the site of the first maṭha (Sringeri Sharada Peeta) established by Adi Shankara,Hindu theologian and exponent of the Advaita Vedanta philosophy, in the 8th century CE It is located on the banks of the river Tungā.

Sharadamba Temple : The Vidyashankara temple was built by Vidyaranya, patron-saint of Harihara and Bukka, the brothers who founded the Vijayanagara empire. The niches in the temple have a number of sculptures from Hindu, Buddhist and Jain mythologies. Inscriptions in the temple record contributions made by several Vijayanagara emperors but the temple was probably built on an earlier Hoysala site as it combines Hoysala and Vijayanagara architectural features. The main temple hall features 12 pillars designated for the 12 signs of the zodiac.

“Sri Kshetra Horanadu” is situated on the banks of river Bhadra in a remote corner of Chikkamagaluru dist, Karnataka, surrounded by the natural vegetation, forest, green lands, and natural beauty of the Western Ghats. The great deity of Adishakthyathmaka Sri Annapoorneshwari Prathistapana was done by his holiness Agasthya Maharishi several centuries back. The hereditary Dharmakartharu of our family started 400 years back. Till the 5th Dharmakartharu, the temple was having a very small structure surrounded by full of natural vegetation and forest.

Every visitor to the Annapoorna temple at Hornadu, irrespective of their religion, language, caste, or creed, is provided with a three-course vegetarian meal (including a dessert made from BeLe or Lentils). Male visitors to the temple have to remove their shirts and banians and preferably cover their shoulders with a towel or a shawl, as a symbol of respect and humility in front of god.

Thirthahalli is a taluk headquarters, amidst dense forest and is about 65 Kms from Shimoga. Thirthahalli taluk is located in Shimoga district of Karnataka on the banks of river Tunga. It was called 'snow less Kashmir' in the olden days by travelers and visitors.

Tunga bridge : Thirthahalli has a unique bridge built by Sir. M.Visvesvaraya across the Tunga River which connects Thirthahalli on one side to a place called Kuruvalli on the other side. Now, Kuruvalli has become an extension of Thirthahalli.

Kuppahalli situated at a distance of about 16 Kms. east of Thirthahalli and 81 Kms. from Shimoga. This is fascinating locality which is the birth place of the great poet 'KUVEMPU'. There is the famous spot here known as Kavishilla where the poet in his young days used to sit and contemplate.

Matka Matka is a beautiful place which is situated near thirthahalli a 15km distance from the town, where you can find the backwater and a submerged remains of the temple, and also it has a beautiful view of the backwater.

Ambuteertha : Ambuteertha is 10 Kms from Thirthahalli on Hosanagara road, this is the birth place of the river Sharavathi. Ambutheertha lies 16 Km to the North of Thirthahalli and is the birth-place of river Sharavati. The river flows towards North-west and plunges into the world famous 'Jog falls', (900 ft) before joining the Arabian Sea .2 Km from Ambutheerha, one can find the Accha kanya falls, where Sharavathi falls 6.1 meters in preparation before Jog falls.

Kaveledurga : 18 Km to the West of Thirthahalli, there is a village with hillocks called 'Kavaledurga' or 'Kauledurga' or 'Bhuvanagiri'. There is a fort with seven walls, built in the last decades of 16th century by a pious Keladi ruler Venkatappa Nayaka. Inside this, one can find several small ponds and temples like Kashi Vishweshwara temple, Laxminarayana temple (built on Vijayanagar sculpture style) and palace monuments.

Kudremukh also spelled Kudremukh is a mountain range and name of a peak located in Chikkamagaluru district, inKarnataka, India. It is also the name of a small hill station cum mining town situated near the mountain, about 48 kilometres fromKarkala and around 20 kilometres from Kalasa. The river forms a little island, which is famous for the migratory birds sighted there. Mandagadde is a bird sanctuary in the Malenaddu district of Karnataka. The birds that can be seen here are the Median Egret, Little Cormonant, Darter, and the Snake Bird. The sanctuary is a bird watcher’s delight, with the island being a perfect heaven for bird nesting. You can spot over 5,000 birds here during the peak season. The birds can be seen from the watch tower built specially for this purpose. Tourists mostly throng the camp to interact with elephants. An “elephant interaction” session can last up to two hours if tourists reach the riverside between 7am and 8.30 am when the tuskers are bathed, before being led to the feeding place.

Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary ( Muthodi Wildlife Sanctuary ) :70 KMS from Hattikulli Homestay
Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary a protected area and a Project Tiger tiger reserve located 38 km (24 mi). northwest of Chikmagalur town. It is Occupying 495 km². of wildlife sanctuary and Project tiger reserve, this region is an important watershed of the Tungabhadra river. The huge reservoir here is the main water supply to several districts in the rain shadow regions of south Karnataka. The forests here are rich in Bamboo and birds species unique to both the Malabar and Sahyadri ranges. Bhadra sanctuary has a wide range of flora and fauna and is a popular place for day outings. The 1,875 m (6,152 ft) above MSL Hebbe Giri is the highest peak in the sanctuary. Bhadra is the first tiger reserve in the country to complete a successful village relocation program. This sanctuary is a must for wildlife enthusiasts, bird watchers and bird photographers. The great Indian gaur, Chital, Sambar, Elephants , Malabar red squirrel, Tigers, Panthers, Bear, Bison, Barking deer, flying Fox, Wild dogs and several other animals including over 300 variety of birds have all made their home here and live in harmony. This place is truly mysterious and magical. The secrets of the jungle unwind as you go deep into the seemingly silent forest. Birds whistle their favorite songs and monkeys chatter incessantly. Shark Food Court a Family Garden Resturant on NH48 Kunigal Road, 20 Km before Kunigal town and 10km after Solur junction on off Bangalore - Mangalore Highway on left side as a attached Dosa Camp resturant in its outer premises which operates from morning 6;30 AM to 12 PM only. After 12PM Shark Food Resturant starts its operating till 11:30 PM. Dosa camp serves hot tatte idlis with masala vada, varieties of dosas and spicy palaav or Tomato Bath. Tatte idlis are very special among the other dishes, which is served with veg sagu, green and red coconut chutney. Dosas are also very popular.
