Wild wag Tail Resort offers an affordable vacation home just 4 hours drive from Bangalore, on 5 acres of land, surrounded by streams, in Saklespur. Sakleshpura is located in the Western Ghats, a mountain range that stretches from Kerala to Gujarat. The southern range, which includes Bisle reserve forest and the region around Sakleshpur is listed as one of the 18 most diverse spots in the world in terms of flora and fauna. The sub-tropical climate and heavy rains during the wet season create an environment where several unique plant and animal species flourish.

Sakaleshpura is a taluk and hill station town in Hassan district in the South Indian state of Karnataka. It has an average elevation of 949 metres (3113 feet). Hemavathi river flows in Sakleshpura town.

Description: This trail requires lots more skill to get up to the top. This trail takes you to the top of Murkan Gudda. Enjoy the panoramic view of Western Ghats. Get a picture of yourself with the mountain ranges and tea estate behind you.

Saklespur is perfect for off road fun and adventure and you'll find lots of off road trails for motorcycles, horse, dirt bikes, ATVs(All Terrain Vehicle), and 4 wheel drive vehicles. We at Wild Wagtail offer endless trails to explore along with miles and miles of scenic beauty to enjoy. You can go for off road drive in your 4X4 vehicle or If you don't have an off road vehicle, then you should check out these off road ATV and Jeep tours for a fun adventure. Night jeep Drive
Put on some warm clothes, get in to the wilderness, point your torches and look out for the reflecting eyes of commonly found mountain goats and herds of bison hiding in the bushes.

River Hemavati, which starts in the Western Ghats at an elevation of about 1,219 m, is the tributary of the Kaveri River. After originating near Ballala rayana durga in the Chikmagalur District of the state of Karnataka, it flows through Chikmagalur, Hassan District and Mysore District before joining the Kaveri near Krishnarajasagara. Approximately 245 km long, the river is an important contributor to the ecosystem of the town. Owing to the notable temples located near the site, Hemavati Reservoir is also a pilgrimage spot.

Jenukallu Gudda

The Jenukal Gudda (Honey-stone Mountain) is the second highest Peak in Karnataka. The place is known as “Hodachalli”.
The place is very calm and lush green surrounded by thick jungle and coffee estates and is truly a great trekking place.
From the top of Jenukal Gudda on a clear day, one can see the coast of Arabian Sea in Mangalore.

Yedakurmeri Trek

"Trek on the Railway Track", as it is well known, is a stretch of track from Sakleshpura to the Subramanya Road Station. This track, that traverses some distance of the Western Ghats, had been abandoned, but now the track is being converted to broad-gauge. It forms a part of 56.80 km stretch from Sakleshpur to Kukke Subrahmanya, dotted by 58 tunnels, 109 bridges and about 25 waterfalls.

Bisile Forest Trek

Bisle Ghat is a stretch of beautiful adventurous spot between Subramanya and Sakleshpur. Bisile is a evergreen forest. Few Trekking trails requires permit from the forest department.

The “Bisle Gudda” or “Sunny Mountain” is a scenic picnic spot as well as a trekker’s dream-route. The mountain ranges are typical of Western Ghats of India.

The local forest authorities have built observation decks which is suitable for bird watching. The spot has also attracted famed photographers of the educational TV channels such as Louis Patrick.

Agni Gudda:

The “Agni Gudda” or Parvat as you would have guessed by now means “Fiery Mountain” for legendry volcanic activities in this region.

This location has been an all-time favorite with the youths from Bangalore for trekking, and outdoor camping. The mountain provides a great view of the surrounding rice terraces and a good spot for picnicking and outdoor camping.
This spot also has been recorded on various South Indian and Bollywood movies.

  • Shettyhalli / Gorur Dam - 120 minutes drive. The ruins of the Holy Rosary Church in Shettyhalli are partially submerged in water. This church was built by the French in 1860.

When you drive down from Bangalore on NH-48 towards Hassan (Mangalore) and beyond towards Sakleshpur, the experience of the smooth 6 lane highway is enough to seem like the perfect vacation already. Head via Nelmangala, past Kunigal, Chennarayapatna and Hassan on NH48. NH-48 is now renumbered as NH-75.

Sakleshpur is located on the National Highway 48 which connects Mangalore to Bangalore and hence easily accessible from both the cities. Mangalore is the nearest airport at a distance of 130 km while Bangalore is located at a distance of 225 km. Regular KSRTC bus services are available from both the cities and taking a cab is also an option.

After 12PM Shark Food Resturant starts its operating till 11:30 PM. Dosa camp serves hot tatte idlis with masala vada, varieties of dosas and spicy palaav or Tomato Bath. Tatte idlis are very special among the other dishes, which is served with veg sagu, green and red coconut chutney. Dosas are also very popular.
